    Land of winds > Music

The music of Andean societies is at the heart of their culture and history, never as an unchanging antiquity, but as an enlivened tradition, open to change yet conservative of its main values.

“Land of winds” is devoted to all forms of Andean music — from the most traditional examples of its kind to the latest innovations, and from the classical and well-known titles to the untraceable jewels and the unnoticed treasures of all times. All of them will found their way through these pages in an attempt to be explored, commented, analysed and studied from as many points of view as possible.

“Music”, the core section of this magazine, strives to inform readers and musicians alike about commercial and non-commercial recordings, whatever the medium (live performance, record, cassette, CD, mp3) or the broadcasting and distribution channel. A set of five reviews/critiques of different artistic productions will be published every two months, as well as a couple of novelties to keep you up to date on what is happening in the Andean arena. In addition, we will bring to you a short article on the history of the “Andean music” genre, together with a featured song.

Finally, a selection of chosen lyrics will be transcribed, retaining their original wording (in indigenous languages and/or Spanish) and providing a tentative English translation.
