Andean sikuris

Andean sikuris

Bunches of reed pipes or plastic tubes grabbed by hands either young or old, male or female, synchronized blowing of flutes to weave sounds into emotions, drums marking the beat, dance steps, smiles: the sikuris band is playing.

Peruvian photographer Jimy Tapia's website offers a photo gallery, "Sikuris en Santa Catalina", which portrays several musicians playing their flutes and bombos at the monastery of Santa Catalina de Siena (Arequipa, Peru).
