Loma larga

( José Hidrobo)

Loma larga

"Loma larga" is a bambuco composed by the Colombian farmer-musician José Hidrobo (sometimes written Idrobo or Idrovo), who was born in Almaguer (department of Cauca) and made his home in San Agustín (department of Huila). In this town, Hidrobo founded the local chirimía (band of flutes) and collaborated with different ensembles in the dissemination of the bambuco style. One of those groups was the famous Colombian band Chimizapagua, which featured this theme (now regarded as one of Hidrobo's best-known pieces) in the album "Experiencia" (1984).
